LATEST NEWS

30 April 2022

This year saw the reboot of the world famous Roses Varity Weekend, the biggest varsity in Europe. LUSC put in two teams for the weekend as well as one alumni team. It was fantastic weekend for the club, with the sun shining, BBQ burning and the wind waling. After the days sailing both unis converged on Lancaster dressing up in helm & crew pairs as their favourite famous duo. After food was eaten, both unis lined up for a boat race (how appropriate) where Lancaster dominated the win, finishing before York's new commodore had even quenched his lips. Finally all those drunken sailors stumbled to sugar, this is where my memory becomes hazy unfortunately so I shall say no more.

Lancaster 1s vs York 1s

Lancaster 1's took a landslide win against York 1's with an intense 3 Lancaster wins meaning that not all of the best of 5 needed sailing! Roses are Red, despite York stealing one of our crews we hope to take the competition to them again next year.

Lancaster 2s vs York 2s

Despite Rob’s best efforts not to sail the course in the conventional direction, our 2s conceded to York 2's after a very interesting best of 5. Roses are Red, which is also the colour our poor race captain saw after Rob’s little detour.
